Deakin
University’s Dr Jenny Vietch has won the 2008 Victorian Sport
and Recreation Research Award.
“I would like to congratulate Jenny on this award for
her research called 'An investigation of the influences on
children’s active free-play',” said Professor
David Crawford, Head of the School of Exercise and Nutrition
Sciences.
“Jenny conducted this research as part of her PhD. It involved
a series of studies that investigated factors that influence children’s
participation in physical activity and their use of parks and playgrounds
in their local neighbourhood.
“Her success re-confirms Deakin as the pre-eminent university
in research in this area.
“This is the third year running a member of our School has won
this award.”
