Robyn Williams discovers heaven at the GTP

Four more Deakin researchers were featured on ABC Radio National’s flagship science program, The Science Show, in July.

Robyn Williams spoke with Professor Xungai Wang, head of the Centre for Material and Fibre Innovation, and talented young PhD student Minoo Naebe.

As well as appreciating the quality of their research, Robyn Williams took great delight in the discovery that Minoo is Persian for Heaven, even dedicating a song to her at the end of the program.

Haptics and Intelligent Systems experts Professor Saeid Nahavandi and Dr Zoran Najdovski were also featured.

Robyn Williams believes science communication is the key to saving civilisation: that the decisions communities need to make on a whole range of issues in the future need to be based on the right information.

Deakin’s researchers have certainly been doing their bit.

Transcripts of both interviews can be found at the Science Show web-site: www.abc.net.au/rn/scienceshow
