Alfred Deakin Fellowships announced
“I believe Alfred Deakin would be proud to have these young people being awarded fellowships named after him.”
That was Professor David Stokes’ reaction to the announcement of 11 of the 12 successful candidates for the inaugural Alfred Deakin Post-Doctoral Fellowship program.
“When you look at the people we have attracted, it is clear that we have well and truly achieved our goal to bring together the next generation of top quality Deakin researchers,” said Professor Stokes, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).
“Their appointment, the creation of ITRI, the development of new research partnerships and the many other exciting developments we are seeing on almost a daily basis are making us more and more a research driven university.
“This has huge benefits, not just for the researchers, but also for attracting quality undergraduate students.
“There’s no doubt young students enjoy and benefit from attending lectures from people who write their text books, or who are internationally recognised for their research.”
The 12 Alfred Deakin Post-Doctoral Fellowships were advertised in May and attracted applicants from both Australia and overseas.
