The
Day My Bum Went Psycho
Famous children’s author Andy Griffiths
will join Deakin University’s Associate Professor Catherine
Beavis and Dr Chris Walsh to debate the subject: YES I CAN
READ AND WRITE BUT IT IS NOT MY FAULT.
The forum will take place at St Michael’s
Church in Collins Street Melbourne at 6pm on October 14th.
It will be recorded for later broadcast
on ABC Radio National’s Life Matters program.
The first two forums were:
YES I AM FAT BUT IT IS NOT MY FAULT and
YES IT IS UNSUSTAINABLE BUT IT IS NOT MY FAULT.
“We know that both those forums had
a considerable impact in the areas which they addressed,”
said Alison Hadfield, Director of Research Services Division.
“I don’t think it will be any
different with this one.
“I know that Andy Griffiths is very
keen to be involved because encouraging young people to read
was the reason he became a children’s author.
“I also know that our Deakin researchers,
Catherine Beavis in particular, are very keen to be on the
same panel as the author of The Day My Bum Went Psycho.”
Andy Griffiths will attend the function
upon returning to Melbourne after visiting schools all around
Australia.
“I will be giving the writers perspective,
rather than the academic one,” Andy said.
“But I am really keen to hear what
Catherine and Chris have to say.
“I sense we all want the same thing,
to encourage young people to read.”
