ITRI
leadership team confirmed
Professor Andrew Parratt has been appointed
as the Executive Director of ITRI, Deakin University's new
Institute for Technology Research and Innovation.
Announcing the appointment, Deakin's Deputy
Vice-Chancellor Research, Professor David Stokes said he was
thrilled that Professor Parratt had accepted the appointment.
"Since joining Deakin as the Director
of BioDeakin, Andrew Parratt has played a key role in helping
us move towards the next step in our research growth,"
Professor Stokes said.
"Andrew has been particularly good
at recruiting quality researchers, as well as building partnerships
with industry.
"Andrew will join Professor Peter Hodgson,
who is Director of Research for ITRI, Professor Xungai Wang
who is the Director of the Materials Group in ITRI and Professor
Saeid Nahavandi who is the Director of the Intelligent Systems
Group in ITRI. Together they make a world-class team."
Professor Parratt said he was excited about
what lies ahead for ITRI and for Deakin’s research.
"In the time I have been at Deakin,
we have seen some really fantastic advances in our research,"
Professor Parratt said.
"There
is a great sense of pride in the work being done in the areas
that will now come under the ITRI banner. There is also a
great sense of team work and that gives you great confidence
when you go out and talk to industry or Government about entering
into a new partnership with us.
"You know that you have this really
great group of people behind you.
"I am really looking forward to the
future, and also with working alongside the ITRI team.”
